JNUSU Election 2019- Important Dates

Jawaharlal Nehru University is country’s premier institution. JNU represents students from different economic backgrounds and different parts of India. JNU is also known as left bastion due to left-wing dominance in students elections till now.

JNUSU elections are conducted on the basis of JNUSU Constitution, in which, the students of JNU are sole authority for the organising of student union elections and the administration has no role in the Election process.

The JNUSU Elections are unique due to “Mashaal juloos”, general body meetings and presidential debates. This year, JNUSU Election will be held on September, 6.

Important dates of JNUSU Elections:

  1. 25/08/2019 – Display of Tentative Voters list.
  2. 26/08/2019 till 09:00am -05:00 pm – Correction in the Voters list begins.
  3. 26/08/2019 till 02:00 pm -05:00 pm – Issue of Nomination forms

Beginning of Election process:

  1. 27/08/2019 till 09:30 am-05:30 pm – Filing of Nominations
  2. 28/08/2019
    • Display of list of Valid Nominations at 09:00 am
    • Withdrawal of Nominations from 10:00 am-01:00 pm
    • Display of Final list of Candidates at 03:00 pm
    • Press Conference at 04:00 pm
  3. 29/08/2019 from 10:00 am onwards – School GBMS
  4. 30/08/2019 from 10:00 am onwards – School GBMS
  5. 02/09/2019 from 10:00 am onwards – School GBMS
  6. 03/09/2019 from 01:00 pm onwards – Universal General body meetings
  7. 04/09/2019 from 09:00 pm onwards – Presidential Debate
  8. 05/09/2019 – No Campaign day
  9. 06/09/2019
    • Polling – 09:00 am-01:00 pm
    • 02:30 pm-05:30 pm
    • Counting from 09 :00 pm onwards
  10. 08/09/2019 – Declaration of Results
