Faith and belief are two nerves of India which can make the impossible possible. Hundreds of arrest, thousands of protest and millions of prayer to save Sabarimala is a clear reflection of this fact. Let us try to decode the wrong narrative which is desecrating India’s diversity.
Located on the Nilachal hill in the capital city of Guwahati, the deity of the temple, Kamakhya Devi is revered as the ‘Bleeding Goddess’
Every year thousands of Hindu saints and people from around the country visit the temple and worship mensuration as a Shakti of women. In a country that continues its archaic attitude towards menstruation as unholy and gruesome, it is important for each one of us to know the progressive approach that the Hindu Kamakhya temple displays—of celebrating womanhood
Though, in the contemporary time a wrong narrative have been established by some communal powers that women in the Sabrimala Temple are barred to enter because of the mensuration cycle. Though, this a blunt lie as contrary to this Hindu temple Kamakhya celebrates womanhood and all its aspects.
However, the wrong narrative is set that women are impure and therefore not allowed to enter in the temple. Truth to be told, there are hundreds of Lord Ayyappa temples where the deity is worshipped by both men and women. It is only and only in Sabarimala temple that women are not allowed to enter that too because it is believed that the position in which the deity is sitting is said to be brahmacharya. In such position a yogi is supposed to isolate himself from women. In fact, the men coming to worship the deity are expected to undertake 41 days Brahmcharya pilgrimage.
In my knowledge the ancient faiths of India could be divided into two categories.
- Some faiths evolved with time and took an ugly shape making the life of some sections of society as miserable. These includes- child marriage, Sati Pratha etc. However such unprogressively believes were opposed by learned Hindus without any call or pressure from outside world.
- Second are those faiths which evolved with time and pose no harm to any section of society. Sabarimala is the part and parcel of this class of faith. Thus, such faiths should be left untouched as they are followed from hundreds and thousands of years and cause no harm to any section.
Thus, a wrong narrative was illustrated to malign Hinduism and diversity of India. Sabarimala and Kamakhya temples stands as testament to India’s diversity that decode all the wrong narrative flooded by communist, communal and unprogressively forces.
A herculean and robust movement is launched by Ayyappa’s Bhakt in various parts of country. The Ayyappa’s Bhakts in Kerala are resisting assaults and aggressive charges of communist government which is mercilessly arresting and beating the innocent devotees. Along, with this many have attempted suicide out of depression and attack on their faith and belief. The time has come when Hindus from across the country should stand and unite in support of Ayyapa’s Bhakts. Let’s us unite together and collectively fight to keep the long, long legacy of India and Hinduism alive.
