Youth of India is a Youth led movement, evolved from the successful and innovative campaigns hosted by Youth of Siliguri, since 2015. Youth of India is weaved out of Youth of Siliguri, which has been appreciated at United Nations for its innovative campaigns. Its vision build the world’s largest apolitical, inclusive movement for engaging, empowering and evolving youth to propel for the 100th centenary of India’s Independence in 2047. The organisation has team across 12 states and have presence in 5 countries at present.
The movement is initiated by the young people, which is of the young people and working for the sustainable practises for the people in the country. The movement aims to bridge the gap of talents of the young people and the platforms needed to showcase their talent. As a team, it tries to incorporate the sustainable practises and solutions from the NRIs abroad and connect it to the much-needed areas.
Earlier, as an unregistered movement – Youth of Siliguri, chapter of Youth of India – hosted the first ever Youth campaign in Siliguri named The Pocket Money Campaign, which was selected as one of the Top 5 World’s Best Campaign by United Nations Major Group for Children & Youth in 2016. The campaign was also projected in the We the People’s Hub side event at United Nations General Assembly.
Further, there are now teams in more than 10 states across India working on various youth movements, including the SDGs. Campus Chronicle was the media partner of the event.
The founder of the movement has been featured in the United Nations Youth Flash Newsletter, a monthly newsletter issued by Department of Economic and Social Affairs Division for Social Policy and Development. He has been invited by various governments across the world to curate innovative campaigns and movements and had been the official youth delegate to the Y20 Summit 2017, civil- youth dialogue prior to the G20 Summit 2017.
As a Youth movement, it aims to incorporate people across the country and the world of Indian-origin to contribute for various projects.
Thus, the organisation launched Youth Of India on July 27, 2019 in the Deputy Speaker Hall, Constitution Club of India, New Delhi from 4.30pm onwards. The guests of honour were from different fields including minister, academicians, media, social organizations and political leaders. Young people from across the country participated in this historic launch.
